Arès
Due to the interplay of tides, salt meadows are made up of diversified micro habitats. They are home to rare and protected plant and insect species that support very specific ecological conditions: temporary cover by seawater and the presence of salt in the ground. The attentive visitor will be able to observe, in addition to the green lizard, many species of birds (herons, ducks, curlews, blue throats with mirrors...) or even marten and otters for the lucky ones.

Atlantic Ocean : Plage du Grand Crohot
Camping des Abberts is only a few minutes from the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. The nearest beach is Grand Crohot, 9 kilometres by road and 11 kilometres by bike. From the campsite take the direction of Cap Ferret.
The beach of Grand Crohot in Lège-Cap-Ferret is one of the most popular beaches on the Cap Ferret peninsula. It is also the ocean beach closest to the city centre of Lège-Cap-Ferret and the neighboring cities of the Arcachon basin. This fine sandy beach extends for several kilometres towards Le Porge in the north and Grand Piquey in the south.
There is only a supervised area in summer on this beach, at the large car park (1500 spaces) and restaurants. After the blockhouse, in the south, it is possible to practice kitesurfing, even in summer.
The beach is supervised from early June to mid-September, so it offers all the advantages of a day at the beach with family or friends, sunbathing, swimming in complete safety or thrilling on the waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
